This May, 20 seniors and 32 juniors took the AP Spanish Exam. The score average for these 52 students was an incredibly impressive 4.02. (The scale of the test is 1-5, 5 being the best.)

Abiezer Mendez (CRNY ’08, Fordham ’12) is currently working for JP Morgan Chase & Co. in the Operations Analyst Development Program for the Treasury Services business unit. Abe gained experience at JP Morgan for one year through CRNY’s Corporate Work Study Program, then completed a four-year rotational program at JP Morgan while attending Fordham University.
David Luna, (CRNY ’10, Hobart and William Smith Colleges ’14) spent Summer 2013 on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, interning in the office of Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ). David was accepted into the internship through the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute’s Internship (CHCI) program, a nearly all-expense paid experience which provides housing and transportation, salary, and placement with a Congressman for 8 weeks. As a CHCI intern, David spends four days weekly working at the office and attends weekly leadership sessions aimed at enhancing knowledge of the legislative process and career exploration. Said David, “The experience has been phenomenal! I’m engaged in substantive matters, policy research and reporting on immigration. My office is right next to the Senator! I have met him and hopefully can chat soon. I never forget how Cristo Rey gave me the tools at such an early age to stand out from the pack professionally”. David will return to school in the fall for his senior year at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
Jennifer Akotoh (CRNY ’11, Williams College ’15) spent Summer 2013 at the University of Virginia School of Medicine’s Summer Medical and Dental Education Program (SMDEP). The SMDEP experience provides academic enrichment in science and math, mentoring by eminent physicians and dentists, personal counseling in career development, assistance in development of a personal statement for medical school, workshops for life skills such as stress management and financial planning, and further enrichment opportunities to prepared motivated students applying for medical school and beyond.
Arisleydi Garcia (CRNY ’08, Manhattanville College ’12) is pursuing a Master’s of Science in Education (M.S. Ed.) in Mental Health Counseling through Fordham University’s Graduate School of Education.
Jeffrey Collado (CRNY ’08, Binghamton University ’12) is currently working at Thomson Reuters in Sourcing and Procurement.
Michelle Gonzalez (CRNY '08, Santa Clara ’12) spent Summer 2012 interning at Thomson Reuters. She majored in Accounting and Information Systems at Santa Clara University. Said Thomas Reuters CFO (Ret.) Robert D. Daleo, “Michelle is articulate; energetic, and focused; a wonderful representation of the Cristo Rey Program”. Michelle is currently studying for her CPA exam.
