Applying to CRNYHS
WHEN SHOULD I APPLY?
You should apply as soon as possible! We are accepting applications for 9th and 10th until the class is full. For freshman applications, priority is given to applications received before December 12th, 2022. However, you are encouraged to turn in your application sooner! For those applications received after December 12th, we process and evaluate the applications on a rolling basis once we have finished processing those applications received on or before the priority deadline.
WHAT IS AN EARLY ACCEPTANCE APPLICATION
An early acceptance application is an application that is submitted before the December "Early Acceptance" deadline. These applications will be the first ones to be reviewed and considered for admission into our school. Submitting your application by this deadline not only increases your chances of getting accepted, but you will also be one of the first to receive your decision as soon as we announce them in Mid-January.
IS THERE AN ENTRANCE EXAM?
No, we do not require the TACHS, ISEE, or HSPT. We use the grades, standardized test scores, and letters of recommendation that you submit when you apply.
DO YOU NEED TO BE CATHOLIC TO APPLY?
No, students of all faiths or denominations are welcome. The school is open to all; however, it should be understood that it is a Catholic, institution, and religion classes, monthly liturgical celebrations, and spiritual retreats are part of the school.

HOW RIGOROUS IS THE CURRICULUM?
We have a rigorous college preparatory curriculum offering a recognized diploma. Students should expect to be challenged and work hard to attain the skills that will lead them to succeed in college and beyond.
CAN I EARN COLLEGE CREDIT AT CRNYHS?
Yes, CRNYHS offers the opportunity to try to gain college credit via Advanced Placement (AP) classes and offerings. Students can elect to take one of the many AP classes we offer and then take an AP test at the conclusion of the class. Students who earn a high enough score on the test can request that the College Board send the report to their prospective college or university.
ARE THERE EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES AND SPORTS?
Yes, sports offered include, volleyball, basketball, soccer, softball, and baseball. Our sports compete as part of CSAA. .
Clubs and other activities are determined based on student interest but currently include Choir, Yearbook, Black Student Union, Art Club, Drama, and much more.
IS THERE A UNIFORM?
Yes, the school is designed to reflect the dress and atmosphere of a corporate workplace. As such, the students wear a uniform daily. All students will be taught to dress and groom themselves in a manner appropriate for a professional work environment.
DO ALL STUDENTS HAVE TO WORK?
Yes, as a requirement for admission, all students must be 14 years old and have the necessary documentation to be legally employed in the USA. Students who cannot hold a job cannot remain in the academic program.
DO STUDENTS GET TO CHOOSE THEIR JOB PLACEMENT?
Students are interviewed and evaluated and their interests and skills are taken into consideration with job placement. Ultimately, the Corporate Work-Study Program team decides where each student will work each year.
I AM A TRANSFER STUDENT. WHEN CAN I APPLY TO CRISTO REY NEW YORK?
We recommend students interested in transferring to CRNYHS apply in January. This way we receive a full marking period of 9th grade and are able to determine how many spots are available for the following year.
DO YOU TAKE TRANSFERS DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR?
We do not take transfer students during the school year because all new students must attend a two-week training session before the beginning of the school year.
