COLLEGE GUIDANCE OFFICE

Cristo Rey New York High School is committed to college access and providing each of our students and their families with the necessary knowledge and resources throughout the college application process.

Our College Counseling Office devotes tremendous attentiveness to each student and their family, ensuring that every student makes the best choice for college; academically, financially, and socially.  Our 16:1 student-to-counselor ratio allows each counselor to work closely with juniors and seniors, holding mandatory parent nights in the spring of junior year and fall of senior year, and holding periodic individual meetings with parents throughout the school year.

In addition to assisting with applications, the College Counseling Office coordinates:

  • College Essay Workshop

  • SAT Prep Classes

  • Financial Aid Nights for families

  • Summer Enrichment Programs for underclassmen

CRNYHS sets an annual goal for every student to set foot on at least one college campus before their senior year, and has met this goal for the last six years.  The junior class travels on a three-day, two-night trip to college campuses, seeing a range of schools in order to identify what they are looking for in a college.

College Counseling Office Highlights:

  • 99% of the class of 2022 is attending a four-year college/university!

  • According to the U.S. News & World Report college rankings, 83% of the class of 2022 will be attending “selective,” “more selective,” or “most selective” colleges
